Dr Connie Allen coordinates a range of innovative wellbeing initiatives in Logan and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI), including wheel of wellbeing training, participatory leadership (art of hosting) facilitation, and community-based research. Her research focuses on wellness theory and practice, including the ‘experiential learning theory of high level wellness’ she developed during her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Before her current positions with Relationships Australia Queensland and Griffith University (adjunct), Connie worked on health promotion and public health programs within the National Heart Foundation of Australia (Queensland Division) and Queensland Health. She is currently researching wellbeing in relation to gender, culture, profession and place.
Her research and work expertise center around high level wellness / wellbeing, community-based research and practice (e.g., community development, place-based initiatives and participatory leadership), health promotion / public health and qualitative research, particularly grounded theory.
