Dr Gao is a social policy researcher. Her recent projects have focused on “necessary and reasonable treatment and support” for spinal cord injury and acquired brain injury patients. She is particularly interested in exploring measurement equivalence of generic measures between patients with different neurological conditions and understanding health care accessibility among people with disability. Her research expertise includes: (1) development and application of sophisticated quantitative methodology for the analysis of secondary data sets; (2) Item Response Theory; and (3) spatial analysis using geographic information system (GIS).
