Lesley Chenoweth AO

Professor Emeritus, Griffith University

Lesley Chenoweth AO, BSocWk, MSocWk, PhD is Professor Emeritus at Griffith University. She was formerly the inaugural Professor of Social Work and ProVice Chancellor and Head of Logan Campus at Griffith. She has many years experience as a social work and human service practitioner, academic and activist chiefly in the disability area. Her current work includes research and supervision of doctoral students as well as other voluntary roles in the community services sector. Lesley is passionate about the power of education to transform lives and indeed whole communities. The theme of addressing social and economic inequalities has strongly underpinned and continues to influence all her practice.

Lesley was made an Officer of the Order of Australia n 2015 for her work in higher education particularly in the area of social work, as an academic and administrator, and as a leading supporter of people living with disability. Lesley was also a 2015 finalist in Australian Financial Review / Westpac Women of Influence awards and winner of the Local Regional category.
