Hopkins Hour: Advancing the Aus-InSCI Translation Project: Midpoint Outcomes and Reflections
On 16 June 2026, The Hopkins Centre welcomed attendees to a Hopkins Hour webinar exploring the progress and achievements of the Aus-InSCI Translation Project.
Hosted by Hopkins Centre Director Professor Tim Geraghty, the webinar featured presentations from project team members Glenn Verner-Wren, Dr Michaela Filipcikova and Alex Borg, alongside Consumer Advisory Committee Co-Chairs Antonio Vecchio and Dr Johnny Bourke, and lived experience experts Marita Finch and Daniel Cheong.
The session provided an overview of the project's progress to date including:
- outcomes from the e-Delphi study used to identify and prioritise key focus areas
- updates on the development of the environmental scan protocol, and
- insights into planned activities for the remaining 18 months of the project.
Presenters also shared valuable reflections and lessons learned throughout the project's implementation.
A panel discussion followed, highlighting the important role of lived experience experts and the Consumer Advisory Committee in shaping the project's direction, processes and impact. Panellists discussed how meaningful engagement with people living with spinal cord injury has strengthened the project's translational approach and helped ensure its activities remain relevant to community priorities.
The Aus-InSCI Translation Project aims to deliver a targeted program of translational activities informed by the Aus-InSCI Community Survey, with the overarching goal of improving quality of life and outcomes for people with spinal cord injury.
