BEEHIVE research showcased during National Carers Week

As part of National Carers Week 2026, 11-17 October, The Hopkins Centre researchers Chelsea Marsh, Dr Jayke Bennett and Dr Michael Norwood joined Susan Jones, Nurse Unit Manager, Neuroscience Rehabilitation at Gold Coast University Hospital, at the BEEhive & C5E Carers Fair on 14 October 2026.

The Carers Fair brought together patients, families and carers, clinicians, researchers, healthcare providers and community organisations to recognise the important contribution of carers and strengthen connections across the rehabilitation community. The event also highlighted how collaboration between Neuroscience Rehabilitation and The Hopkins Centre supports the translation of research into clinical practice, with the aim of improving outcomes for patients and carers.

The team showcased research from the BEEHIVE – Brain Enriched Environments Lab, sharing how the project is exploring ways to create more enriching and engaging rehabilitation environments that support recovery and wellbeing.

Held at Gold Coast University Hospital, the fair featured a range of stalls and activities highlighting rehabilitation, community participation and support for patients and carers.

National Carers Week provided an important opportunity to recognise and celebrate carers and the vital role they play throughout rehabilitation and recovery. The Carers Fair also provided a valuable opportunity for The Hopkins Centre and its clinical partners to connect with carers and the wider community, share research, and strengthen partnerships between research, clinical practice and lived experience.
