The importance of equitable access to health services and healthcare

The Hopkins Centre and Spinal Life Australia will work with Health Direct to provide timely information to people with disability about the physical accessibility and suitability of health services and health care practitioners listed in the National Health Service Directory. This important development has come from the study run by THC researcher Dr. Ali Lakhani and Spinal Life Australia Ross Duncan. In the study, Ali and Ross are working with SLA members to document the accessibility of services across Queensland and then map this data onto our Epidoros GIS platform. The findings of the study will provide an important resource for people with disability to ensure everyone has equitable access to health services. The study will now also translate into greater national awareness of the need to provide accessible healthcare.
