International Day of Persons with Disabilities Online Forum
The United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities online forum was held on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, hosted by Griffith Business School’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Inclusive Futures: Reimagining Disability, and The Hopkins Centre.
Centred on the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress,” the session explored ways to build more inclusive communities in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The panel examined the ongoing barriers faced by the one in five Australians who experience disability, with discussions focused on inclusive education, employment, volunteering, and business, as well as how mega-sporting events can drive long-term social and economic change.
Speakers included Lisa Cox OAM, Dr Maria Golubovskaya, Brad Kinsela GAICD, and Associate Professor Popi Sotiriadou, with moderation by Dr Kelsey Chapman. The forum featured live captions, and a recording and transcript were made available afterwards for those unable to attend.
