Cured or condemned? Mapping mild stroke outcomes and untreated deficits

Cured or condemned? Mapping mild stroke outcomes and untreated deficits

Published 11th May 2017

Medical advances and clinical guidelines on rehabilitation have reduced the impact of disability from severe stroke. Yet, less is known about the needs of people who suffer a mild stroke. Consequently, they are likely to be missed after leaving hospital and without an appropriate systemic response, and are at risk of adverse health and social outcomes. This project will use a novel combination of geospatial technology and questionnaires to map and understand service needs of this underserviced population. This will inform the design of an integrated primary health care intervention to improve the health and social outcomes of mild stroke patients.
