Dr Jessie Mitchell Appointed to Key Research Fellow Role at The Hopkins Centre
The Hopkins Centre is delighted to see Dr Jessie Mitchell transition into the position of Clinician Research Capacity Building Research Fellow, based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In this joint role with Griffith University and Metro South Health, Jessie will focus on strengthening research development and capacity building among rehabilitation clinicians.
With a PhD in Social Psychology, along with qualifications in psychological science, marketing, and graphic design, Dr Mitchell brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to rehabilitation research. Her work spans co-design of advanced rehabilitation technologies, assistive technology for cognitive function post-brain injury, self-advocacy during care transitions, and sustainable employment after brain and spinal cord injury.
In her new role, Jessie will support Metro South Health clinicians in building the skills and confidence to develop and conduct research that is embedded in clinical practice. She will provide accessible research guidance across all stages of the research process, from idea development and grant writing to data analysis and translation. In addition, she will lead her own research program with a strong focus on capacity building, helping to foster clinician-led innovations that improve rehabilitation services and outcomes for people with disability.
