Hopkins Hour - Clinician Research Capacity Building - Moving from Interest to Engagement

The Hopkins Centre held this Hopkins Hour live event about Clinician Research Capacity Building - Moving from Interest to Engagement on Wednesday 25 June 2025. 

 

Prof. Timothy Geraghty, Director of The Hopkins Centre, was joined by Dr Letitia Burridge and clinician researchers Emily Allan and Kristin Tynan to discuss building clinician research capacity and progressing from initial interest to meaningful research engagement.

Dr Letitia Burridge, Research Fellow from The Hopkins Centre shared her expertise in supporting new clinician researchers, strengthening clinician research capacity and developing a research-knowledgeable workforce through shared and co-created resources.  View examples of capacity-building projects, sustainable strategies and resources developed that were shared to support clinicians commencing rehabilitation research.

Emily Allan, Occupational Therapist for Queensland Spinal Cord Injuries Service (QSCIS) provided reflections into her long-term research clinician fellowship, offering practical advice for clinicians interested in research and supports available.

Kristin Tynan, Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Metro South Health Persistent Pain Management Service and the Princess Alexandra Hospital also provided an insight into her research journey, offering practical advice for clinicians interested in research and research project outcomes.

After the presentations, Dr. Teresa Boyle, Queensland Branch AFRM Chair and rehabilitation physician at Queensland Health, along with Glenn Verner-Wren, a Physiotherapist with Queensland Health and Hopkins Centre Clinical Research Fellow, joined the presenters for a panel discussion sharing together insights on the value of capacity-building projects, the resources available to clinicians interested in research and the value of research capacity building projects to organisations.
