Hopkins Hour - Technology and co-design with people following acquired brain injury (ABI)
The Hopkins Centre held this Hopkins Hour live event about Technology and co-design with people following acquired brain injury (ABI) on Wednesday 17 September 2025.
Prof. Louise Gustafsson, Hopkins Program 2 Leader, was joined by MSH clinicians Janelle Griffin and Rebecca Seeney, as well as Griffith academic and researcher Kaitlyn Spalding, sharing findings from Hopkins co-design brain injury partnership research projects. Following on from Brain Injury Awareness Week in August, presenters shared research updates about the impact research by The Hopkins Centre is having on everyday Australian’s living with brain injury.
Prof. Louise Gustafsson hosted the session and discussed a scoping review that explored how and when co-design has involved people with acquired brain injury (ABI). Click here for presentation.
Clinicians Janelle Griffin and Rebecca Seeney, presented on research findings from project Scoping the Technology Landscape of Day Hospital Brain Injury Rehabilitation Services. Their project examined how technology can enhance daily functioning, independence, confidence, and quality of life for people with ABI, and identified opportunities for tech-based consultations, training, and resources to improve outpatient brain injury rehabilitation. Kaitlyn Spalding also shared findings from a secondary analysis of discussions around the challenges of transitioning home after ABI, conducted during the ‘understand phase’ of the Returning hOme after Brain INjury (ROBIN) project.
