National Pain Week 21-27 July 2025
Following the success of The Hopkins Centre awareness campaign for National Pain Week in 2024, we have invited Dr Nichloas Aitcheson, Hopkins researcher and rehabilitation and pain medicine specialist, to again provide resources for National Pain Week 2025 in relation to pain management & rehabilitation and how advancements in technology are improving rehabilitation programs and shaping clinical guidelines.
Understanding Pain as Protection
Our pain system is so much more complicated than just nerves responding to damage. There is a whole lot of processing that goes on before we have the output that says “PAIN!”, and there are a whole lot of things that feed into that processing. These links will hopefully help you to understand a bit about how that system works.

Although this is a British website, it still has some really good information on pain.
Introduction to Pain | Pain Management Network
This is a video from a pain specialist. It’s a bit longer (at 6 minutes), but it gives a good idea of the complexity of chronic pain and some ways to deal with it.

Another great website for understanding and treating pain, with some very quick and clear explanations.
