Celebrating Dr Jessica Walker’s PhD achievement
The Hopkins Centre is delighted to congratulate Dr Jessica Walker on the successful completion of her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), marking an exciting milestone in her research career.
Jess, a Senior Research Assistant with The Hopkins Centre and Griffith University, completed her PhD at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Her thesis, Understanding the Development of Problematic Play Through Motivation, Passion and the Context of Emerging Adulthood, brought together her interests in psychology, wellbeing, behavioural addiction and human-computer interaction.
This expertise strongly complements Jess’s current work with The Hopkins Centre, where she is particularly interested in research that meaningfully integrates lived experience into research and design. Her work explores how technology can be designed and used in ways that support autonomy, inclusion and wellbeing for people with disability.
Jess is currently contributing to the ROBIN (Returning hOme after Brain INjury) smart device application project, which is exploring how technology can support people with acquired brain injury during the transition from hospital to home as well as the seed project: Can we enhance the home modification process and outcomes using 3D visualisations of activities of daily living (ADLs) among others.
The Hopkins Centre congratulates Dr Walker on this significant achievement and looks forward to seeing her continue to apply her expertise in psychology, technology and human-centred research to improve rehabilitation and wellbeing outcomes.
